As an article and comment contributor to the site, Scott has been around the pressure washing industry since attending college at Michigan State University. In 1993 he started his first company called Oakland Pressure Wash specializing in exterior pressure washing, deck staining, and concrete restoration. That company evolved into OPW L.L.C. shortly thereafter concentrating more on exterior restoration. Scott and his Restoration Michigan company have restored over 10,000 projects in the Metro Detroit area since the early years. He has become an authority in the restoration industry and has contributed to numerous restoration forums and informative sites. In the spring of 1996, Scott opened his first Brick and Mortar storefront in Rochester Hills, MI. Scott relied on his experience and stocked the store with the best restoration products available. The store quickly became the go-to place for contractors and homeowners seeking the best products possible for their brick and concrete maintenance needs. In 2002, Scott opened his first eCommerce site selling the products he sold through his retail store. This allowed him to offer eCommerce solutions to both contractors and homeowners alike. Scott is only carries products that perform the best based on his own personal experience using the products and in his 20+ years of helping others. Scott has been approached about selling numerous different restoration products through the years but selects only the products he has used and trusts to perform.

How to Apply CUTEK® Extreme – Step-by-Step Guide

by TheSealerStore July 19, 2026

How to Apply CUTEK® Extreme Tips Once your wood is prepped — stripped, restored, or cleaned as needed (see our prep guide if you haven’t gotten there yet) — applying CUTEK® Extreme itself is straightforward. The steps aren’t complicated, but a few of them are easy to rush past, and rushing is usually what turns a great penetrating oil into a mediocre-looking finish. Here’s how an application day actually goes, start to finish. Step 1: Check the Forecast Before You Start CUTEK® Extreme needs to diffuse into the wood over several days, not just dry on the surface overnight. Look …

How to Prep Wood for CUTEK® Extreme

by TheSealerStore July 23, 2026

How to Prep Your Wood with CUTEK®: A Step-by-Step Guide CUTEK® Extreme does its best work when it’s applied to wood that’s actually ready for it. Skip the prep, and you’re asking an oil to penetrate through dirt, old paint, or a weathered surface it can’t properly soak into — the finish won’t perform the way it’s designed to. Get the prep right, and you’re set up for the deep, long-lasting protection CUTEK® is known for. The tricky part is that “prep” means different things depending on what you’re starting with. A deck with peeling paint needs a very different …

How CUTEK® Works – Penetrating Oil Explained

by TheSealerStore July 23, 2026

How CUTEK® Works (and Why It’s Worth Using) Wood doesn’t fail because it’s old. It fails because it’s constantly taking on and giving off moisture — swelling when it’s wet, shrinking as it dries out, over and over, season after season. That repeated movement is what actually causes cupping, warping, and splitting. Most exterior finishes were never built to address that cycle directly; CUTEK® was. The Problem With Most Wood Finishes Look at almost any traditional stain, varnish, or “penetrating” oil on the market, and you’ll find the same basic approach: build a film on top of the wood and …

CUTEK® Extreme Photo Gallery: Clear vs. Colortone

by TheSealerStore July 23, 2026

CUTEK® Extreme Photo Gallery CUTEK® Extreme is a clear penetrating oil. Left without a Colortone added, it lets your wood weather naturally into a soft, silvery patina as it’s exposed to sunlight and UV — the look you see in many of the photos below. Note: Even as the wood grays, CUTEK® Extreme keeps working. It diffuses deep into the fiber and continues protecting against moisture and improving dimensional stability, whether or not a Colortone was added and regardless of how weathered the surface becomes. If you’d rather keep the wood looking freshly oiled instead of letting it silver, a …
